FAQs

How does the Friendship Equation work?

Friendship Equation matches you with a group of 6-8 individuals based on your survey responses, allowing you to connect with like-minded people.

You will have a first virtual (fun!) get together with a facilitator to see who will be in your circle, decide on activities, and make the first in-person get together less awkward.

There are 5 planned in-person get togethers – and you are encouraged to set up additional meetings on your own.

Where is this active?

For now, we are only available in Baltimore (City and County), but we hope to expand soon. Please contact us (info@friendshipequation.com) if you would like to see this option in your city.

What activities do the groups participate in during the program?

Groups engage in various fun activities such as game nights, coffee shops, dinner out, hikes, learning new skills (like knife making), hiking.

The activities are curated for each group based on the group’s interests, and the group will decide on different options.

How long does the program last and how often do groups meet?

The program lasts for 6 meetings (initial meeting + 5 get togethers). Groups will meet consistently (weekly or bi-weekly) to ensure consistent interaction and bonding among members.

Who can join the Friendship Equation program?

Anyone over 21 as long as they are interested in making friends, and committed to joining sessions

What if I don’t gel with my group members?

It takes time to meet friends. We don’t expect all 6-8 people to be best friends (though it would be great if it happens!), so we ask that you give it the 6 sessions.

However, if there are specific issues that make continuing impossible please reach out to us.

Is there a cost to participate in the Friendship Equation?
  • While we are in the testing phase, we are offering membership for very low cost. In exchange, we would greatly appreciate feedback and ideas!
  • In addition to the cost to join Friendship Equation, there might be additional fees to attend the events. For example, if the group meets for coffee or dinner, you would be responsible for those costs. We try to keep the meetings as low cost as reasonable, and will check with the group prior to meeting if expected costs are ok.
When do I pay?

You will be charged in full after we have matched you to a group and before the first facilitated session. We want people to commit to the experience. Friendships take time. If people quit in the middle it impacts the experience for everyone, so we charge upfront to make it less likely that you will drop out of events you have already paid for. Any additional costs (coffee, dinner, classes, etc.) will be paid directly there.

How long after I take a quiz will I be matched up?

This can vary depending on who else is interested at the time. We match people based on things like interests, location, availability so it can take some time to get a group together, but you won’t be charged you until you are in a group!

What happens after the program ends?

The hard part of getting acquainted is over. Now its up to you! You should also make plans with your new friends for how you will continue to meet up and be there for each other.

Of course, if you love it so much and want to make even more friends, you are welcome to sign up for another group – or if the group wants to continue having support to schedule events, we are happy to support that as well.
